Are Upper Chakras preferable to the Lower Chakras?

When Spirituality Ignores the Body: Healing the Divide Within

Somewhere along the way, we have been taught to be at war with ourselves.

In the name of goodness, enlightenment, spirituality, and morality, we were taught to look up—to seek God, ascension, purity, and light—while denying the needs of the body. Religions reduce Earthly pleasures as sinful, while some sects of Yogis deem them as distractions to be avoided.

We were told that to be “good,” we must hide or transcend our innate needs.

And so we learned to split ourselves in two.

One part of us—our upper chakras, our ideals, our dreams, and our spirituality—was deemed noble, worthy, and divine. The other part—our lower chakras, our instincts, our needs, and our earthly existence—was shamed, hidden, and silenced.

Unfortunately New Age spirituality, for all its beauty, often mirrors what religion has taught for centuries: that the body is something to overcome. That our instincts, needs, and desires are lesser than prayer, purity, and enlightenment.

We are told to:

  • “Raise our vibration” without teaching us how to ground ourselves.

  • “Detach from earthly desires” instead of teaching us moderation.

  • “Find God” but without focusing on ourselves within the messy, imperfect reality of life.

And so we swing between two extremes.

We chase the intangible at the expense of the practical.

We reject the body and glorify the mind.

And as we are all witnessing......the cost is far too high.

This conflict—the split between our upper and lower chakras—creates a deep divide in the psyche. A quiet war.

We fracture. We abandon parts of ourselves that were never meant to be denied.

By ignoring our Lower Chakras, we struggle to feel stable, present, and relaxed. Life feels like something we can never fully enjoy because there’s always a subtle sense of unease, like something essential is missing.

On the flip side, ignoring the upper chakras as impractical, “woo-woo,” or ungrounded creates an existence that feels dry, uninspired, and mechanical. It cuts us off from imagination, higher purpose, and the beautiful mysteries of life. Without access to the upper chakras, we lose the vision, meaning, and direction that make life worth living.

The Cost of a Divided Self

The symptoms are subtle at first, but they are always there, like quiet cracks beneath the surface:

  • You feel guilty for resting—as if honoring your body’s need for stillness makes you lazy.

  • You judge your desires—whether it’s for pleasure, connection, or nourishment. You call them indulgent, and you suppress them until they turn into shame.

  • You feel ungrounded and disconnected—floating through life with big dreams but no sense of stability. You feel like you’re “here” but not really here.

  • You become perfectionistic—using morality or spiritual ideals as a way to punish yourself for being human.

  • You struggle with intimacy—rejecting your body’s ability to feel, connect, and experience joy because somewhere, you learned that pleasure is impure.

You might meditate for hours, seeking stillness in the crown of your head, yet feel unable to pay your bills, commit to relationships, or express yourself fully. You might live in your mind, endlessly chasing “higher” knowledge, yet find yourself overwhelmed by anxiety, anger, or creative stagnation.

Because you are not just a spirit seeking transcendence. You are also a body, rooted in the Earth. Both are sacred. Both are you.

Wholeness Comes When We Stop Fighting Ourselves

Your body is not an obstacle to your spirituality. It is the very ground of it. When you integrate—when you embrace both your humanity and your divinity—you become whole. When you heal the divide between your upper and lower chakras, life begins to flow:

The Symptoms of Integration

  • You feel safe in your body and excited to live in the present moment.

  • You create from a place of joy, rather than obligation.

  • You trust your instincts while honoring your higher wisdom.

  • You experience pleasure without guilt and stillness without shame.

  • You live with purpose and clarity—rooted in the Earth, yet open to the sky.

The Journey to Wholeness

The Chakra Psychology Certification Course is for those who are ready to end the war within. It’s for those who are tired of living in halves and want to experience themselves as whole.

It’s a path to reclaim the parts of you that you’ve abandoned, to honor both your foundation and your ascension.

Because true spirituality isn’t about escaping the body—it’s about 'embodying' your spirit.

It’s time to stop fighting yourself.

It’s time to integrate.

With love,

Priya
